Brent Rice 75, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away on Thursday January 7, 2021 at Kavanaugh Hospice House.
Brent Leroy Rice was born on June 9, 1945 in Fairmont, Minnesota, he was the son of Frank and Bernice Marie (Holtz) Rice. He attended school in Spencer, Iowa and graduated with the class of 1963. Brent served his county honorably in the United states Army from 1966 until 1968.
On May 25, 1974, Brent was united in marriage to Rosemary Ann Jimenez at her parents’ home. They had lived in Norwalk until recently moving to Des Moines. Brent worked at Owen Crist Auto Body. He loved raising rabbits and being a rabbit judge. He was a member of the American Rabbit Breeders of America, and South-Central Rabbit Breeders Association. Brent enjoyed collecting many things, coins, miniature cars and beer cans. He enjoyed fishing, coaching his daughter’s softball teams, and loved his family and anytime with his family was the best time for him. Brent will be remembered as a carefree, kind, and loving man. He was an animal lover and enjoyed his pets.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 46 years, Rosie, daughters, Kami (Mike) Chicas and Mindi (Chris) Jones both of Des Moines, grandchildren, Rosie, Julian, Kennedy, Ireland, Karli, PJ and twins, Brooklyn and Brantley, and sister, Ronda Roskens of Spencer, Iowa.
In death Brent joins his parents, Frank and Bernice Rice and brother in infancy Jeffrey.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Iowa Golden Retriever Rescue, 312 Grand Ave., West Des Moines, IA 50265 or to Kavanagh House Hospice.
