Dennis "Denny" Glenn Weeks


Dennis G. (Denny) Weeks, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022 at home in Des Moines, Iowa. He was surrounded by his loving family in his final days. Services will be held Friday April 8th at 10:30 at the Rock Power Church 3119 SW 30th in Des Moines, Iowa…with burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 7601 Fleur Drive in Des Moines, Iowa.


Denny was born to Gerald (Sonny) and Linda Weeks on August 12, 1961 at the Naval Air Station Hospital, Quonset Point, Rhode Island. As a “Navy Brat” his first 16 years were filled with adventure, living in Rhode Island, Texas, Iowa, Florida, Australia, West Africa and Spain. His family then returned to Des Moines and then Milo where he graduated from Southeast Warren High School in 1980.


Denny was a proud father and grandpa. His best times were spent camping, fishing and soaking up the sun on his boat. He also enjoyed tinkering in his garage and tending his vegetable garden and was always sure to set in the canna bulbs passed down from his grandfather, Clyde, then mother.


Denny worked part time for a Hog Farmer during high school and after graduating, for Wright Distributors and Kmart. He then became an auto mechanic for Weeks Garage in Milo working with his dad. Later, he began small engine repair at Sesco Safeway working under his Uncle Jerry. Denny was presently a field mechanic at Duke Aerial. He was known by many as the one who could get’er going.


Denny is survived by his wife Janet Holmes Weeks, daughter Elizabeth Weeks Martir and her husband Osman, son Brandon Weeks, and grandchildren, Logan, Evelyn, Emma, and Lucas Martir, He is also survived by his parents Gerald “Sonny” Weeks Jr. and Linda Clevenger Weeks, brother Gerald “Jerry” (Teresa) Weeks III and sister Julie Weeks, aunts and uncles, Bernice Weeks, Linda Weeks Bunting, Butch (Judy) Weeks, Becky Taylor Engelke, Lyla Clevenger Bonjour, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Brother in-law Danny (Sherri) Holmes, Tom Holmes and Tim (Rose) Holmes.


Those passing before him include father and mother in-law Glen Holmes and Nancy Lajko Holmes, grandparents Gerald “Jud” L. Weeks and Ione Clary Weeks Taylor, Clyde Clevenger and Orpha Nash Clevenger, uncles Jerry Weeks, Keith Bunting, Irv Engelke, and best friend Shane Anderson and best dog, Toca.
