Eva Cooper

Eva Cooper, 92, passed away on March 5, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.


Eva was born December 1, 1931, in Des Moines to Fred and Florence Berry. She attended Lincoln High School and worked at Woolworth’s in downtown Des Moines. She went on a blind date with Bob Cooper, who at first, she did not like, but eventually married him.


Eva was the queen of puzzles, loved playing basketball with her family, playing board games, reading her Bible, and listening to Bible tapes. Eva especially loved and cherished her time with family and was a devoted follower of Christ and a prayer warrior.


Eva is survived by her children, Tom (Karen) Cooper, Kathy (Doug) Thompson, Tim (Annette) Cooper, Ruth Cooper, Barb Cooper, and eight grandchildren.


Eva is preceded in death by her parents, five siblings, her husband, Robert Cooper, sons, Robert S. Cooper and David Cooper, and her grandson, Joshua Cooper.


A visitation will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 7601 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, Iowa 50321. Funeral ceremony is scheduled at 1:00 pm at Sunset, with the burial to follow immediately at 2:00 pm at Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 7601 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, Iowa 50321. Please join the family back at the funeral home following burial for refreshments in the chapel.
