Francis “Bud” Emory Weese, 88, of Pleasant Hill passed away December 9, 2022. He was born December 25, 1933 to his parents Lester and Vernal (Campbell) Weese. Francis married Marjorie “Marge” Joy Cline on August 5, 1955. Within those 66 years together they had two children, Jan and Billy Joe.
Francis worked for the Des Moines School District as an engineer for many years. If he wasn’t working, he was sure to be spending time with family and friends, he loved to travel and spent many years as a “snow bird” in Texas. He enjoyed square dancing and bowled for many years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Masonic Lodge. Francis also served in the United States Army and Navy.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Jan Weese (Jeff Blank), brother Wayne Weese, sister Jill, brother Rocky, brother Mike, 3 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. As well as lots of nieces and nephews; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Bud is preceded in death by his wife Marjorie, his parents, his son Billy Joe Weese, sister Marlene Woodard, brother Larry Weese, brother Jack Weese, and great-granddaughter Nova.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Weese family.
A funeral service will be held at Brooks Funeral Care (formerly Tonini Chapel – 2135 SW 9th St.) on Thursday December 15th from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with visitation an hour prior to the funeral service. Francis will be laid to rest next to his wife Marjorie at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
