John Arthur Moore, 78, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at his home in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 11-Noon on Wednesday, November 29th, with a celebration of life to follow at Noon at the Sunset Memorial Chapel, 7601 Fleur Dr in Des Moines. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Born September 14, 1945, to John and Florine Moore – he was their only son, surrounded by seven sisters. He attended Park Avenue Elementary, then went to Lincoln for Junior High, then graduated from Des Moines Technical School. He attended and graduated from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, Minnesota and attended Southtown Baptist Church in Des Moines. Later he attended Alathea Baptist Church. He worked for Fairplay / Fairtron Scoreboard and retired two years ago after 50 years of service.
He was the best brother we could’ve ever asked for. He was kind, giving, loving. All of us girls loved him, and he loved all of us.
Every Friday night was “game night” and he was at the end of the table – he will be missed there. He loved flowers and plants. His yard was always colorful with many flowers.
John is survived by his sisters, Janice (Harold) Willock, Jean Howell, Joyce Rovner, Judy (Bob) Johnson, Jane (Mark) Osmanson, Joann (Steve) Bump, Jeri, (Steve) Hunt, many nieces and nephews and he had some special friends that he loved; Kaylyn, DJ, Mia, Jeremy, Emma, Ian, he was like an uncle to them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew Zackery Brown and two brothers-in-law, Don Rovner & John Howell.
