Kenneth Darrell Hilterbrand (Kenny) of Des Moines left this earth to be with the Lord on March 2nd, 2025, at the age of 89. Kenny was born at home near Weldon, IA. He graduated from Humeston High School. Kenny is survived by his wife Kathleen (Kathy), daughters: Sue Koenigsfeld (Marty) of Greene, IA and Cindy Roberts (Jim) of North Carolina, a son, James Byers of Des Moines, his brother Bob Hilterbrand, sisters: Ruby Martin and Cathi Foland (Duane), 9 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
Kenny wanted children and loved his ready-made family of 5 when he married Kathy. He always listened and gave great advice. He was patient and never seemed to be angry. Kenny loved to tell jokes and stories and working in his wood shop. He loved to travel, and they visited almost every state. After he retired from Meredith Printing (RR Donally) Kenny and Kathy shuttled cars for Hertz Rental and Stivers Dealership.
Visitation will be held at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, 314 E Army Post Rd, Des Moines, on Monday, March 10th from 4-6pm. His funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 11th at 10:30am at Glad Tidings as well. Burial with Army Honors will be held at the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Des Moines.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
