LaVonne Blount passed away peacefully in her hometown of Des Moines, Iowa on Monday, March 3rd, 2025, with family at her side.
Her love of family was evident by all who knew her. She had an unending generosity that could be seen in her care for those she loved. Her door was always open, and this led to her impact on many more lives.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 54 years, Richard Blount, her parents Daniel and Vivian McConkey, her son James Blount, granddaughter Shannon Williams, daughter-in-law Diana Blount, all of her siblings, Lenore, Beverly, Richard, and Sandra.
She is survived by five children, Robert (Jan) Blount, Joan Thorsen, Lorraine (Mike) Lancial, John Blount and Edward Blount, and 34 grandchildren from 3 more generations.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 7601 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, IA 50321, Friday, May 2nd at 11am.
