Lowell J. Large, 96, known as Jack to family and friends passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in Des Moines. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 14th from 4 – 7 pm, with a funeral service to be held on Tuesday, October 15th at 11 am. Both at the Sunset Memorial Chapel, 7601 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Jack was born in Appanoose County to Claudie & Eva (King) Large. He graduated from High School in Promise City, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Ruth Clausen on November 13, 1955, she preceded him in death on January 12, 2017. Jack was a proud Army Veteran and served his country during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Mid-American Energy in 1990 after many years with the company. During his spare time, he enjoyed time with his family, watching sprint car races, fishing and going to Prairie Meadows.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, parents and three brothers.
Jack is survived by two sons, Darwin (Kim), Alan (Mary), grandchildren, Jill (Josh) Miller, Brett Large, Nicole Large, Wesley (Andrea) Large, great grandchildren, Karly, Brooke, Jack & Reece.
Memorial may be directed to the Luther Memorial Church in Des Moines.
