Michael LaVerne McCollum, 71, of West Des Moines, passed away in his home on December 27th, 2020 surrounded by loved ones.
Mike was a proud father, grandfather and American. He was extraordinarily generous, hard-working, an avid golfer, talented musician, and had a fondness for unwavering routine. While Mike was headstrong even up until his untimely passing, he was softhearted when it mattered most.
He is dearly missed by his longtime love and companion, Sandy Kristufek, his sons Jason (Jessie) McCollum and Michael McCollum, grandchildren Makenzee, Isabelle & Michael, and his sister Patricia McCollum. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Martin "LaVerne" and Amelia McCollum.
Mike’s family will hold a private funeral. A public visitation will be from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2020 at Brooks Funeral Care in Clive, followed by a graveside service at Resthaven Cemetery at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to First Tee Central Iowa.
