Raymond Darr 74 of Des Moines, Iowa passed away at Mercy Hospice in Johnston on October 13, 2020.
Raymond James Darr was born on June 22, 1946 in St Paul, Minnesota; he was the son of Raymond William and Ruth Elva(Gruwell) Darr. He attended school in the Des Moines School District graduating from Tech High. He served his county honorably for 16 years in the United States Navy and then the United States Army. Ray was part of the Crew that retrieved the Astronauts of the Apollo 10. He was united in marriage to Sandra Pope and they enjoyed life together until her passing. He loved his career and time in the camper. Raymond always lived his life close to his Lord.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Elizabeth Ruth Darr Sage, Samantha Darr, Melanie Jocoby and Tim Pope, siblings, David Darr, Sandy Darr White, Linda Darr (Jerry) Jenkins and Cindy Darr (John) Juber.
In death he rejoins his parents, Raymond and Ruth Darr, wife Sandra K. Pope Darr.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on October 24, 2020 at Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time at 2:00p.m. also at Merle Hay Funeral Home. Due to the Covid-19, please wear a mask and honor social distancing guidelines.
