Sandra Kay Meier, age 86, of Clive, IA, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025. Sandra Kay Meier was born to Ralph and Dorothy Whitcomb in Caton, IL and was raised in Mt. Pleasant, IA. After graduating Mt. Pleasant High School, she earned her Associate Degree in Nursing and obtained her nursing degree in both Florida and Iowa. Sandra was passionate about providing care for cancer patients and administering chemotherapy to outpatients. She was a charge nurse and a vital resource to other staff. Sandra dedicated her life to volunteering and providing care, support, and resources to people with special needs and learning disabilities. She helped co-found Camp Seek, Pilot Parents, and the Ruby Van Meter Booster Club where she served as PTO President, Vice President, and Treasurer for 2-year terms for each position.
Though she may be gone from this world her legacy lives on through her determination, kindness, and generosity to help others in need.
Your love was the light that guided our hearts, your warmth still surrounds us. Your wisdom lives in our hearts, your laughter in our memories, and your love will never fade. We miss you very much but find comfort in knowing you are safe and watching over us with the same gentle care you gave.
Sandra’s legacy is one of compassion, kindness, and generosity. She touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Although she has left this world, her love, wisdom, and spirit continue to guide and inspire her family and all who were fortunate to be in her life.
Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, James Joering, her daughter, Michelle Miller, and her son, Terry Meier. She is survived by her son, Randall Meier, and her beloved grandchildren: Jaclyn Meier (Skyler), Paige Meier, Kaylee Miller, Alex Miller (Lainey), Malakai Nall, and Scarlett Nall.
The family would prefer in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Easter Seals Camp of Des Moines, an organization close to Sandra's heart.
Sandra’s family finds comfort knowing that she is now at peace, watching over them with the same love and care she gave throughout her life. Her love was the light that guided their hearts, and while they miss her deeply, they will forever cherish her memory.
