Velma Diaz, 92 of Valley Junction passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020 in the comfort of her own home.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Brooks Funeral Care, 7975 University Blvd. Clive, Iowa 50325. Burial at Resthaven Cemetery following at 11:30 a.m.
Velia Rodriguez was born on May 19, 1928 in Valley Junction, West Des Moines, Iowa; she was the daughter of Jose and Lilian (Hernandez) Rodriguez. She attended school in West Des Moines and graduated from Valley High School. On September 10, 1949 Velia was united in marriage to Anthony Prado Diaz at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and they remained in Valley Junction, raising their large family. She had worked at Johnny’s Vets Club as a waitress for a number of years. Velia was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She loved to read, cook, shop and above all spend time with her precious family.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Raul Diaz, Ron (Becky Booth) Diaz, Douglas (Susan) Diaz, Julie (Tom) Plante, Denise(Greg Eldredge) Diaz, and Anthony (Rhonda) Diaz, grandchildren, Anthony, Maria, Katherine, Michael, Christian, Danielle, Alex and Nathan, siblings, Mary Ellen Berry and Henry Rodriguez.
In death Velia rejoins her parents, Jose and Lilian Rodriguez, son, Mario Diaz, husband, Anthony Diaz and siblings, Jeanette, Dolores, Frank, Bob, Jesse, and Raymond.
